e-mail: info@helia-photonics.com Full range of business activities: HPL is based in Livingston, Scotland and was founded in 2002 to provide manufacturing processes to the semiconductor optoelectronics market. The company specialises in precision optical coatings for semiconductor devices, typically high- performance lasers. Around these sophisticated optical coatings processes, HPL also provides scribe and break, full optical and electrical characterisation and sorting capabilities. Since 2005, it has expanded its activities by developing optical thin film products for the security and decorative pigments area in a long-term partnership with Ciba Specialty Chemicals of Basel, Switzerland. Role in the project: HPL will provide expertise in the packaging of the detector arrays for optimised performance. This will involve the use of thin-film anti-reflection coatings and the integration of custom-designed microlenses for improved fill factor of the SPAD array Qualification for these roles: HPL has particular expertise in high-precision optical coatings, particularly on devices which are intolerant to contamination and electro-static damage, for example silicon SPAD arrays which are critical to this project. HPL plans to develop facilities and experience in microlens arrays.
